The Mayor of Southwark, Sunhil Chopra, has recently organised two events
We were honoured to receive The Mayor at our Centenary Celebrations last year, and now in his mayoral year, he has organised some charitable events to raise money for his chosen charities in 2014-2015 The Robes Project and UK Homes4Heroes.
Some members of Arments Pie and Mash were fortunate to attend the Mayors event Celebrating Diversity on Friday March 13th 2015. Sharing our table with Linda Edwards from the Tenants and Residents Associations (Thurlow Lodge) and Carol ‘Bling’, the special evening was held at the historic Dulwich College, SE21. It was attended by over 300 hundred people, including Diplomatic representatives of embassies from across London joining the Mayor as guests of honour, along with Lord Kennedy of Southwark and Lord Sheikh of Cornhill in the City of London. Guests were treated to diverse cultural food spanning across 5 continents and entertainment from around the world.
Mayor Sunill Chopra said ‘The evening is all about raising some much needed funds for two organisations that are making a vital contribution to the needs of the homeless, and providing an opportunity to celebrate our unity in diversity.
“These are two charities that are very close to my heart and we must always be mindful of those less fortunate than ourselves. We are very blessed to live in a country with such a rich appreciation of cultural diversity and all that we individually and collectively bring to life in Southwark and the whole of London.”
The Mayor of Southwark will be continuing his fundraising for his chosen charities by hosting another Charity Ball on Saturday May 9th at the Guoman Tower Hotel, Tower Bridge. If you wish to attend the Mayor of Southwark ‘s prestigious event please see the invitation below:
