Fun day at Arments with Pearly King and Queen raising money for UKHomes4Heroes
We were delighted to have Pearly King Jimmy Jukes MBE and Pearly Queen Michelle Thorpe come to our shop last Saturday raising money for their charity UKHomes4Heroes.
The Charity was founded on the 23rd April 2010 in response to the plight of homeless ex service personnel. It is estimated that over 4500 previously serving members of the British Armed Forces are sleeping rough in the UK today.
With MOD due to be making cuts this figure is going to rise.’
In fine Halloween spirit we sold nearly 200 homemade creepy cupcakes, sweetie bags and held a raffle with an assortment of goodies for prizes. Jimmy and Michelle played old time music and spent time chatting to customers and passers by, many who gave generously for this good cause.
We are pleased to say that a total of £335.71 was raised and we would like to say a big thank you to all of you who came along and supported this event.
