Arments Pie and Mash opens next to Borough Market

It’s now over a year since we celebrated our first 100 years.  Being one of London’s original pie and mash shops, owned initially by the Evans family until 1914, when it was purchased by William and Emily Arment as a going concern. Today we are still making our pies by hand to the family recipe handed down through the generations.

The Grand Opening Of Arments Pie & Mash, Next To Borough Market, LondonAs we start our second century, Cheryl and Roy Arment’s  first licensed partner, Farhen Enver, opens an outlet in a railway arch at 5 Green Dragon Court, next to the famous Borough Market.  An appropriate choice of site steeped in tradition…The original pie men would sell their pies from hand held trays whilst walking through the various London markets.  More than 100 years on, Farhen the new pie man of the Borough, and a jolly Londoner from Waterloo,  not only offers you great pie and mash but also seating!

And so, with great excitement, a new chapter in the Arments Pie and Mash history begins. On Wednesday August 19th 2015, we were honoured to have the Mayor of Southwark Cllr. Dora Dixon-Fyle MBE, officially cut the ribbon and open the shop to the cheer from waiting hungry crowd.

Pearly King of Camberwell and Bermondsey, Jimmy Jukes MBE, and Pearly Queen of Rotherhithe, Michelle Thorpe, attended the opening of the pie and mash outlet, mixing and chatting with the crowds, whilst raising money for their chosen charity UK Homes 4 Heroes.

The Mayor and the Pearly Queen being no strangers…They recently abseiled together down the side of Kings College Hospital  to raise funds for their selected charity Guy’s and St Thomas’ Cancer Centre.

Arments pies will be served next to Borough Market 6 days a week Monday through to Saturday from 10.30am – 9.30pm. Being made in our Bake house at Westmoreland Road, you can be assured that the pies have the same quality and great taste that you know and love.
