A Cockney community night for Young Lives V’s Cancer and Great Ormond Street Hospital
Firstly, a huge thank you to all of you who have donated to the above charities through our shop and via fundraising events. We know many of you have been touched by these two wonderful organisations in one way or another and the brilliant work they do.
We can confirm an amazing total of £805 has been raised!
Arments Pie & Mash recently had the pleasure of attending a good old Cockney Night in Sussex, organised by Pearly Queen Diane Gould, family members Kelly Jull and daughter Leoni. These two charities are very close to the family’s heart as Leoni, now 17, has been undergoing treatment for non-Hodgkins’s lymphoma since she was 15, both at Great Ormond Street, and the Royal Marsden Hospital in Surrey. Leoni and her family are deeply grateful for the dedication of the medical teams who battled at her side during her life-threatening illness.
During her treatment, Leoni was placed in an induced coma, faced arduous rounds of chemotherapy, lost her hair, and even had to learn how to walk again. Both Leoni and her family received outstanding and invaluable support from the Hospitals and the charity Young Lives V’s Cancer. Young Lives V’s Cancer supports young cancer patients and their families, helping them obtain anything from financial aid for treatment, to free Homes from Home accommodation close to hospitals.
The Cockney night event was brilliant fun and enjoyed by many. There was live music by Amelie who had the most gorgeous voice (AmelieCarter@Ameliesmusic), DJ Owen spun some great sounds to entertain us (Owen Miller @_.miller79). We also had Arments pie and mash (of course 😊), a quiz and a raffle, with many great prizes donated by local businesses and individuals, including Leoni who has set up her small business making quality candles, LM Thank You Gifts. (Instagram https://www.instagram.com/lmthankyougifts/).
Arments had the pleasure of not only donating the pie and mash, but also serving it to over 60 hungry people – who were delighted that proper London pie and mash had found its way to a barn in Sussex – along with those who were keen to try it for the first time. What better way to wash it down, than with Diane’s home-brewed Pearly beer!
At the end of the evening, as the raffle prizes were being drawn, guests were treated to various delicious cakes and a nice cup of tea! A perfect end to a fabulous evening 😊
Once again, a huge thank you to you all! Your generosity is truly appreciated and your donations have gone to very worthy causes where it will make a difference.
