Kick off the Jubilee Celebrations with 100% British Pie and Mash
This week HRM The Queen will be the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, having served as Head of State for 70 years. At Arments we’re looking forward to having our own Jubilee celebrations, and giving our staff some well-earned down time to enjoy the fun, so the shop will be closed from Thursday June 2nd to Monday June 6th.

Over the Platinum Jubilee Weekend there will be lots of events and activities happening across the UK, many of them helping to raise money for The Prince’s Trust. If you’re looking for inspiration on what to do over the Bank Holiday, here’s a selection of Jubilee happenings right here in the city.
London Bridge City Summer By The River: The Big Jubilee Tea Dance
Head to London Bridge to enjoy some dancing by the river and celebrate the start of the Jubilee. There’ll be taster dance classes and live music, as well as workshops that celebrate the art of jazz, ragtime, blues and swing.

Superbloom at the Tower of London
This is one gardeners won’t want to miss: A spectacular, colourful field of flowers will fill the Tower ‘s moat, bringing a natural beauty to this urban space and creating a biodiverse habitat for wildlife. An eye-watering 20 million seeds have been planted using a specially designed seed mix with flowers of pink, blue, white and orange that will continue to bloom throughout the summer. Visitors will also be among the first to see the Queen’s Garden, inspired by her 1953 coronation gown.

Royal Festival Hall Platinum Jubilee Celebration
In commemoration of the Jubilee, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will be joining the Royal Choral Society and Bach Choir, along with distinguished soloists, for a concert of majestic music. The programme will include music by Handel, Schubert, Vaughn Williams, and of course, Elgar.
4 June 2022, tickets start at £19.50 from the Southbank Centre.
Trooping the Colour: In the presence of Her Majesty The Queen
The 1st Battalion Irish Guards, 1450 soldiers from the Household Division, The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, and musicians from the Coldstream Guards will Troop their Colours along the Mall. Although official tickets are no longer available, visitors can still get a limited view by standing on The Mall at the edge of St James’s Park.

The PLANTinum Jubilee
South London Botanical Institute is hosting a free event in celebration of the Jubilee. This creative, cultural event aims to celebrate plants, the Platinum Jubilee, and World Environment Day. Local artists will be in residence, and visitors can take part in a nature writing workshop, storytelling, and view heritage photos and stories, including a portrait of the young Princess Elizabeth.
Takes place on Sunday 5 June, 2-5pm. South London BI.
Platinum Jubilee Arch Rave
For an event that’s right on the doorstop, get across to Bermondsey Social Club. The music event takes place at this gem of a venue, which features an impressive secret garden, and now has a brand new sound system. Tickets cost £15.
