Arments to donate 10% of online sales to charity throughout December
As Christmas approaches our thoughts turn to those in need, especially to our brave ex-servicemen and women, many of whom may be experiencing homelessness over the festive period. We’re also reflecting on the huge sacrifices made by former British army members who have reached their later years and now require a home and care. In view of the huge debt we owe to these veterans we’ve decided to donate 10% of all online orders made in December to two worthy charities: Homes 4 Heroes and The Royal Hospital Chelsea.
Homes 4 Heroes
One of our favourite charities, UK Homes 4 Heroes provides the prospect of permanent homes as well as food, clothing, advice and counselling for previously serving members of the British Armed Forces who are sleeping rough today.
The Royal Hospital Chelsea
We’re sure you’ll agree that The Royal Hospital Chelsea is another superb charity, home to the Chelsea Pensioners, the brave veterans residing in the iconic 300-year-old London building. A familiar sight on the streets of central London in their bright red uniforms and black tricorne hats the pensioners enjoy companionship and nursing care in their later years. London’s Pearly King and Queen to bring VIP guests to our shop
Our selected charities have the backing of two of London’s Pearly Kings & Queens– (which is itself one of the oldest charitable institutions in the UK.) To help us raise awareness and collect the two cheques from our December fundraising efforts, we have invited Pearly King Jimmy Jukes MBE and Pearly Queen Michelle Thorpe to our shop in January…we are hoping that they will bring along three Chelsea Pensioners with them for their introduction to pie and mash!
It’s party season!
