We hope you are all keeping well at this very distressing time. This is going to be a time to remember, for all sorts of reasons. For the anxiousness and difficulties of the lock-down and the social distancing. For the people we know and love who may not come through this tragic event. For the bravery and dedication of the key workers. For the kindness and caring of others going out of their way to look after the most needy in our neighbourhoods.
We would like to thank our team of staff, as individual as they all are, who have really pulled together and gone ‘above and beyond’, despite their personal circumstances, to ensure a fantastic quality of service to you, our customers as always. Over the last few weeks we’ve had to adapt how we usually work and accommodate the changing situation. Our team have risen to the challenge and have shown us their flexibility, cohesion and dedication to continue to get our pies to our customers. As many of you know, we use a very reliable courier service to deliver your orders. However, as they became more stretched, we took to using our own Arments vans to deliver some orders in the London, Kent and Surrey areas. We have received great feedback and thanks from many of you which we all really appreciate.
Just to add our thank you to the many others already expressed to the NHS workers we have tried to spread a little cheer by delivering Pie Mash and Liquor meals, made up and ready to eat, and some crème eggs to Kings College and Darent Valley Hospitals. We’ve also helped feed some of London’s homeless heroes through Pearly Queen Michelle Thorpe and Pearly King Jimmy Jukes MBE, and the charity they so dedicatedly work for and support, UKHomes for Heroes.
And amongst all this…it is our 106th birthday and we can certainly say we have gone through some challenging and unusual times in those 106 years. I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to think this year will be up there with them!
We have now closed for a few weeks to extend our chilling and packing areas to enable us to increase our capacity to fulfil more orders. This means that even if there is no easing of the current government measures, we will be able to send more of you your favourite pie and mash. We will also be able to keep Licensed Sellers still trading well stocked. We hope to resume in early May, and will keep you posted with updates on our website and social media sites.
